I got this product in exchange for an honest review....

I'm not one who usually does anything with her hair... Most days it is in a ponytail or a messy bun on top of my head. I have used a flat iron before, of course, but not in a while and not very often. I wanted to give this one a good try since the brand trusted me to do a good review on it. So....

It heats up quicker than I thought it would. The barrel is big enough that it doesn't feel like it takes hours to do my hair (and it's pretty long and really thick). It glides pretty smoothly with only a few pulls.

I love the heat-resistant glove that comes with the iron as I can tend to be clumsy. So, no burns! I also love the storage bag. It's satiny on the outside and velvety on the inside. There was also a bonus sample of argan oil leave-in treatment and a sample size bottle of argan oil hairspray.

Although I won't be using this every day, on those occasions where I feel like getting fancied up, this will definitely be my go-to hair tool.

I got this screen protector in exchange for an honest review.....

It covers the whole screen, edges too, just like it says. I did have one corner that didn't want to go under my case and caused a bit of touch sensitivity for some of the buttons on the phone.

It went on well with no bubbles. It fit exactly to my screen with no awful overlap in front of the camera.

Except for the sensitivity issue, it's one of the better screen protectors I've used. It comes with a wet wipe and a dry wipe to use on your phone screen prior to application.

I don't know if I could have done anything differently to have the lower left corner stick better, but overall, it's a good quality product.

I got this awesome sleep mask to try out in exchange for a review.

It's very soft and the elastic doesn't squish my face or give me a headache. It feels cool against my face and even though it's silk, it stays in place very well. It also blocks most of the ambient light. Overall, I really like it.

Or, I DID really like it.... Until my husband stole it from me. He says he likes that it makes him feel pampered. Hmmm.... Yeah, that's kinda what it's supposed to do.

Anyway, I'll use it when he's not home (or if he forgets to put it on one night!).

So, I was privileged enough to be able to review a product for a brand. It is a coccyx cushion from ComfiLife. This is the second product that I've gotten from this brand. I've had no problems with either of them.

The cushion goes in any kind of seat. I have one in my desk chair and another in the driver's seat of my car. They are cushy and don't sweat my butt. :)

On the bottom there are little ribbed bumps so that it doesn't slide around. The cushion, like all coccyx cushions, have a split in the middle and it kind of looks like an M. The hole goes toward the back and keeps your tailbone from touching. This helps with lower back pain (and sciatica from what I understand).

I actually got one for my granny who has terrible arthritis and one for my father-in-law because he's had numerous back surgeries and has vertebrae fused together. They both seem to get a little relief by using the cushion.

#showerheadreviews

So, I got this spa-type shower head set. It has 2 heads, both adjustable and one attaches to a hose so you can take it off the mount. The coolest part? They are LED lighted so they change colors periodically. One of the heads changes sprays.

I am sorry that I can't post a photo of it installed, but we are in the process of moving. It does come with all of the necessary parts to install it, though. There is an option on Amazon for professional installation but I think that is not needed. It looks very easy to install, especially if you have a husband who is handy! :)

The face is a little bit bigger than I thought it would be. The silver band is really pretty. I like how there is a line for each number and not just at 12, 3, 6, and 9. It doesn't tick too loudly, either. I'm glad I got to review this watch and it will make an excellent Christmas gift!!
I bought these makeup sponges for my mom. She's already gushing about how easy they are to use, especially the silicone ones. Cleaning is a breeze since you just have to wipe it off. As for the foam sponges, just a little soap and warm water and voila! Clean and free of bacteria and dead skin cells. The package comes with 2 silicone sponges and 3 foam ones so you can switch them in and out for cleaning.

I got this digital tire pressure gauge to review. It comes ready to use, so no need to install batteries. It has multiple settings, most of which I don't understand because I'm a girl. I do understand PSI, and thankfully that is one of the options. :) It fits in your hand kind of like a Target scanner gun would, I suppose. There is one button and each time you push it, it changes the settings. The settings are: Kg/cm, PSI, BAR, and KPA. To turn it off, you just hold down the button for a second. I like how the tip lights up so you can see what your doing if you have tire trouble in the dark. The screen is really well lit, too. It's very lightweight and will fit very easily in a glove compartment or side door compartment. I think it may be a useful tool to have around one of these days.

I got this 4 pack of chemical free flea and tick treatment at a discount for a review. What I love about this product is it doesn't have a harsh smell at all like other flea and tick treatments. This one smells kind of like rosemary and won't (I don't think, as I can't ask her) irritate Roxie Crow's nose. It has ingredients that I can pronounce. The only thing I really don't love about this treatment is that it's runnier than others. However, I'll take that over harsh chemicals any day.
I was able to preview some citronella essential oil made by Up Nature. I'm not that familiar with essential oils but I do know that therapeutic grade is a good thing and this bottle is. It came with a sealed cap and the dropper wrapped separately. It's a glass dropper, which is really cool because it made me think of old timey apothecaries. It smells like citronella is supposed to smell, but even opening it up, it's not too overwhelming. I don't know many uses for citronella except that it's good to keep mosquitoes away. We live in Texas, where even the mosquitoes are Texas size (think mutant) and my Maddie is apparently delicious. She gets these huge bumps when she gets bitten. I'm going to drop a little of this oil on her arms, legs, and the back of her neck when she plays outside this spring and summer. Hopefully it will keep the bugs from carrying her away....
It is from ALBOL Gift Baskets. It has six different boxes and each one has a yummy treat in it. I peeked in the top two and there were Lindor truffles! She let me see what was in the other boxes when I gave it to her. There are dried apple rings, more truffles, chocolate trail mix, and brie and crackers with the cutest, tiniest cheese spreader ever! This would make a good gift for a man or a woman, a Secret Santa (I know, it's early for that yet), a housewarming, or any other occasion when you want to get something personal but not too personal. I hope you at least check it out!

I was able to try a protein shake powder from Skinny Jane. Maddie doesn't eat like she should, and that's a lot my fault. I thought if she liked these chocolate shakes, they would add some needed nutrients to her skimpy diet.

The powder came in a packet. To make the shake, all I had to do was add 1/4 cup of the powder, 6 oz. of milk (I used 1% but the instructions say you can use any low fat, soy, almond, etc.), and a few ice cubes. I put it in our Ninja blender and 30 seconds later, a low fat chocolate shake that she had no idea was good for her.

I got the Chocolate for her but they also have Cookies and Cream flavor. It's worth a shot if your kid is as picky an eater as mine is.

I was able to get a good deal on these resistance bands from Core Fitness Z

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F7UQL28

Terry used them, the heaviest one, too. He said they had a very comfortable grip and the bands themselves were thick and he was not afraid to stretch them. They are able to be used with your body weight hanging from the wall but our walls are not equipped to hold them. They seem to be sturdy and well worth the price.

I was able to snag an awesome new adult coloring book. It's got 32 different designs and they are not on back-to-back pages so nothing will bleed through. It's a good mix of simple, mandala, and intricate designs so it is fit for everyone. I think that colored pencils or gel pens would work the best on it and not so much markers. There are even some pages that the background areas are shaded so that the colors pop so much more vividly. I hope you check it out.
Got Maddie this set of sparkly gem stickers. As soon as she got home from school, she grabbed them and made me a smiley face with 2 blue ones.
I'm including a link to their Amazon site so you can buy your munchkins some, too. Right now, there is peace between us because she is crafting!
Hi, y'all. I was able to snag a product that anyone with crow's feet or dark, puffy circles under their eyes might like. It's called Joyal Beauty Vitamin C Eye Gel. The best thing is, it's made from natural ingredients and there aren't any chemicals except the hyaluronic acid that helps with the wrinkles. I've used it a couple of times. I know it's too early to tell a difference, but it feel good going on. I use it after I've cleansed, toned and moisturized my face and wait for it to air dry before I go to bed. I admit, I forget to put it on under my makeup in the morning, though. Anyway, I'm putting in a pic so you can see the ingredients and also a link to their Amazon website. Hope you enjoy!!

I bought this really cute pillow for new babies not to get a flat head. I got it for a friend who's about to have a baby. It's super soft and comes with a removable, washable cover. I'm sure she's going to love it!! If I had a kid small enough, I'd keep it for myself! Or just forget the kid... If I didn't toss and turn all night I would use it. It's about the size of an adult head but it has a little spot in it for the baby's head to rest. It comes in a nice zippered plastic holder that you can continue to use.
She was the glue that held everyone together. Without her, we would have been a distant and not involved in each other's lives. Everyone's heart is broken without her. Everyone's heart was breaking watching her slip away.

A couple of months ago she was diagnosed with a Stage 4 inoperable brain tumor located on her thalamus. She was sent home on hospice with maybe 6 months to live.

If you don't know what a thalamus is, it's the little bean-shaped part almost directly in the center of your brain. Surgery was not an option. If you don't know what a thalamus does, it basically tells your brain what's going on outside your body. It's the main "relay station", I guess is the best answer.

A tumor-y thalamus starts taking things away one at a time. At any point you could lose vision, hearing, balance, motor skills, and lastly, your automatic nervous system shuts down. First, we think she had a minor stroke. After that, it went downhill pretty quickly. Next, her speech went. All she could do to communicate was make guttural noises. I believe, I really want to believe that she could understand that we were all telling her we loved her. On the flip side, I know how independent she was so I hope she was completely unaware of her limited capabilities and having to rely on my dad and aunts and uncles to do things for her.

After the speech loss, she began sleeping a lot. Soon, she was catheterized and bedridden because she lost control of her motor skills, She couldn't walk strait or get a cup to her lips.

On Thursday, her breathing became shallow and the hospice nurse said that it would be soon, maybe hours. The stubborn-assed woman held on until about 1:15 p.m. yesterday. And then she was gone.

This woman helped raise me and took in my 17 year old self with a baby to live with her. She never asked for anything from anyone. She fed what seemed like the whole neighborhood throughout my childhood. She would do anything for anyone, no matter the cost or inconvenience.

She chased my idiot brother out of the house with a broom when he was acting a fool. She wrestled with my uncle Danny and ended up sticking a coat hanger up his nose. When we, my brother, me, and my cousins, were kids growing up, if one of us (not me, of course) was in trouble, she used to go make them pick their own switch off the hickory bush at the top of the yard.

She always had to sit in the hall of her house on Christmas Eve to open her presents because she got so many. She took care of her mother, my Mamaw Petty, when she got Alzheimer's and couldn't live alone anymore. She babysat every cousin, grandchild, great-grandchild and anyone else that would let her. I'm sad that my cousin Jacquline's babies won't know her like we do, I'm sad that the babies not born in our family won't get to know her. Most of all I'm sad that nothing will be the same ever again.

I'm so mad. Mad at the unfairness of the world. I'm mad that God could let that happen to her. She deserved to go quietly in her sleep in 15 or so years from now, not suffocate because her nervous system shut down because of a big ass tumor rotting away her brain. If anything, I deserve the tumor. I've been a selfless little shit my whole life. Not her, though. She was the most selfless person I've ever known.

The worst part for me is that I'm 1,000 miles away. I couldn't be there with her. I can't be there with my Daddy when his heart is so broken. I can't go to her funeral to bid her fond farewell. Although on that end, my eternal bestest friend in the whole world is going to go and stand in for me. I've said all I needed to say to her, anyway. And everyone tells me she knows; she knows that I love her and she understood me when I said over the phone how grateful I was for all she had done for me my whole life. The say she knows. I hope they're right.

Right now it feels like nothing is right and won't ever be again. I believe time will help, but nothing, not time, not painkillers, not anything, will erase this emptiness that I'm sure all of us who loved her are feeling. Right now it's raw and jagged and debilitating. Maybe one day it will be less raw and jagged and debilitating. And then maybe one day it will just be a dull ache and we won't sit and just feel the pain and can resume some semblance of normal life. Although, now life is not normal anymore.

If you pray, pray for a peace for my family. If you think good thoughts, send them out into the universe. If you don't do anything, well, I guess continue not doing anything. Whatever higher being you worship, please ask for healing for my family. Everyone worships something. If it's money, donate to the American Cancer Society. If it's power, use your influence for the good of society and not just yourself.

Even if you didn't know her, and I'm sad that you didn't, don't wait until it's too late to tell the ones you love how grateful you are to have them in your life.

https://www.giveawayservice.com/p/u6d2m6t5/t4k7m6t5h3

I purchased the TapeGun King tape gun at a greatly discounted price. Honestly, if it weren't for that fact, I probably would never have thought to buy a tape gun. We have one, and really, how many do you need? However, since I did get it at a significant discount, when it came in today I loaded it to see how it compared to my old tape gun.

I found that it functioned weirdly similar to my old tape gun (that I think the hubs brought home from the office once when we were moving). I did notice that the tape didn't get stuck to itself as much and it is easier to cut with the TapeGun King.

Overall, though, I'd have to say that between the two that I now have, I can't tell that much of a difference other than what I've mentioned.

I would like to thank the makers of the TapeGun King tape gun for allowing me to review their product at a discount.
It technically was supposed to be on something that we learned in class, but when I approached the professor to ask if it in a round-about kind of way pertained to class, he interrupted me and said something like it seemed it was something I was passionate about so it didn't matter what it was, just write about it. I then, like the smart ass I am, told him it was sea turtles I was most passionate about. Without blinking he told me to go for it. So, even though it's sadly not sea turtles, after Terry read it, he said I should post it. I was hesitant, but in the words of a wise (ass) professor, I'm goin' for it.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> Labels. We all have them. We pick
them up from the time we are newborns; colicky, happy, constipated. We collect
them as we go through life and we keep accumulating them until we die. It’s
something we do as humans. We straightjacket ourselves and others into
believing we are these things. We let these labels define who we are and not delegate them to where they
should rightfully be – just one tiny fraction of what makes us, well, us.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> As a child, I was labeled moody, difficult,
quick-tempered, and stubborn. I have snapshot memories, or at least I think
they are actual memories, of the time before I was about eight years old. My
first real memory that I know didn’t come from a photograph or a story happened
when I was about seven or eight, I think. I can remember being so despondent,
though I don’t remember why, and writing “I want to die” in big letters in purple
crayon on a whole pack of notebook paper. I’d write it on a sheet and just
throw the page in the floor and move on to the next sheet. Each page a blank
canvas for my adolescent misery.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> I’m sure I scared my mom to pieces, but I’m also sure I
solidified those previous labels in her mind and probably added a few more,
like disturbed, unstable, and suicidal. These are not labels that should be
stuck on a person, much less an adolescent. With labels comes a certain kind of
treatment by others. Whether that treatment is good, bad, or indifferent is
dependent on each individual. In my family, we generally didn’t talk about
problems, we just ignored them and stuffed any associated feelings down until
there was no problem. Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> As I aged out of adolescence and hit puberty, my mood
swings and depression, because looking back, that’s exactly what it was, only
got worse. It didn’t help matters that I basically had no supervision and was
left to my own devices the majority of the time. I pretty much got to do what I
wanted when I wanted and didn’t really have anyone to answer to. As long as I
made it to school, got acceptable grades, and didn’t get arrested, then I had
free reign. I was a hellion. I didn’t get in a lot of trouble, but it’s only
because I didn’t get caught.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> I remember having bouts of depression so bad during my
teenage years that I honestly didn’t see how I was ever going to make it out. I
tried numbing using anything I could – pot, drinking, and sex. Mostly sex. I
became very promiscuous. That was my next label: slut. That one stuck around a
while and hurt a lot, even though I felt I’d deserved it and that it was
totally accurate. It stung to walk into a room and have other girls giggle,
whisper and leave the room. Of course, I tried to play the brave face, but deep
down, I was labeling myself: broken, damaged, unlovable.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> I hit a major speedbump my senior year in high school. I
got pregnant. The day of what should have been my senior prom, I gave birth via
C-section to a 5 pound, 5-ounce little boy who looked like a glowworm from
another planet and totally scared the life out of me. That earned me the label
of ‘teenage mother’.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> When he was two, I married his father, even though I knew
better. He was an alcoholic and verbally abusive even before we had a baby.
That made me label myself ‘idiot’. Less than a year after we were married, I
ended up pregnant again – this time with twins. I filed for divorce and moved
my pregnant self and my 3 year-old in with my grandmother. Now I was ‘teenage
mother’, ‘divorcee’, ‘abused spouse’, and ‘pregnant again’. I felt ‘hopeless’.
I was about to have three children three years old and under, I spent the
majority of that pregnancy in the hospital for premature labor, I had no job, I
had no car, I had no prospects of ever getting out of the cycle I was in.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> Fast forward a year. The twins are almost a year old, and
out of nowhere, a tidal wave of depression washes over me and sweeps me away. I
am quite certain, looking back, that I had a nervous breakdown. I let my family
take my kids and I moved in with my best friend. The oldest went to my mom and
stepdad, one twin went to one aunt and uncle, and the other twin to another
aunt and uncle. That’s where they remain to this day. Now I am ‘abandoner’,
‘deadbeat parent’, ‘selfish’, and ‘heartless’.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> Several years after the breakdown, I met who would become
my current husband. We have been (mostly) happily married for almost thirteen
years. I enjoyed wearing the ‘wife’ label. We were coming up on our fifth
anniversary when we had our daughter. Now I was a “real” ‘mom’. We were active
in our community and our church so I was ‘involved’ and ‘Christian’.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> Our marriage has had its ups and downs. There was a time
in the not-so-distant past that I was addicted to prescription pain medication.
I inadvertently got hooked on it after a hysterectomy a couple of years after
having our daughter. The addiction lasted several years. ‘Addict’ was the best
label to come out of that episode of my life. I still bear ‘ashamed’ for that
time period, and perhaps always will. I have been clean for over a year, so now
I proudly wear the label ‘sober’.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> At one point during the addiction years, I was diagnosed
‘bipolar’. Any mental illness diagnoses, especially one so misunderstood,
immediately screams “CRAZY PERSON HERE – BEWARE”. After seeing shrink after
shrink and taking medicine cocktails galore, nothing seemed to work… Until we
moved here, to Houston. I started seeing a psychiatrist who actually listened
to me. I was not, in fact, bipolar, but unipolar depressive with an anxiety
disorder and the reason nothing had been helping is because they were treating
something I didn’t have. Now I am on a regimented daily cocktail of medication
that keeps me from hopping the rails of the sane train and riding on in to
Crazytown. I also found a counselor that I feel comfortable sharing my deepest,
ugliest junk with. With this, I label myself ‘transparent’, ‘vulnerable’, and
‘hopeful’.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> While it may not be necessarily true that you can be
anything you want to be, you more than likely will live up to what you label
yourself as. Or for that matter, what you allow others to label you as. Naming
something is powerful. A name gives something meaning.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> One of my goals that this class, and others I’ve taken,
has made me realize is that I want to erase the stigma associated with the
labels of mental illness. If someone has a disease, like cancer, they don’t
say, “I am cancer”. No, they say, “I have
cancer”, because the cancer doesn’t define them, it is only one tiny part of
them. I <s>am</s> have unipolar
depression. I <s>am</s> have
anxiety. Why should it be any different with mental illness?

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> Labels. You can’t escape them, you can’t just dump them,
and you can’t erase them once they’re there. What you can do, though, is choose
which ones you want to live up to.

It's a site where you apply to try out products for free or a super reduced rate. My very first approval was for a set of 14 liquid chalk markers by ArtColors.

The site is totally legit. If you get approved, the supplier sends you a code to redeem through Amazon that gives you the discount. I got these chalk markers for $0.00 with free Prime shipping (because I have Prime). Anyway....

So, the "catch" to the site. Each of the products has certain...requirements listed you consider before applying. Things like: Hashtag product on Twitter, Mention on Instagram, Write a blog post....

So here I am. This is me fulfilling my requirement in exchange for my awesome set of liquid chalk markers.

I just got them today. I got approved on Monday and they came in the mail today. I tried them all out right away. If you've ever used a paint pen, they are very much like that. You push in the tip, shake and push the tip back in until the tip fills with color. However, unlike paint pens, these are water-based so they won't dry up and they also wipe off. It says you can use these on white/chalk boards and painted surfaces. I decorated a cardboard box just to try out the colors. The colors are very vibrant. If I had one tiny criticism, it is that because they are water-based, if you hold the tip down too long, it gets too full and then it gets runny. Otherwise, these things rock! And, since they wipe off of non-porous surfaces, I can let the kid use them.

I did receive this product for free in exchange for a review, but this is an honest review from my personal use of this product. https://www.giveawayservice.com/p/y5a0b4t5/t4k7m6t5h3Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15843433798560525703noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5328084905690694528.post-5611011252105915472016-11-14T17:38:00.001-08:002016-11-14T17:38:00.628-08:00I'm trying to verify this blog....And I'm not sure what I'm doing.
